This past week was one of rest. Not literal “kick up your feet and stay awhile” rest, but God given soul rest even on my so called “busiest” days. There’s nothing more refreshing than being washed over by His peace, it numbs the part of my brain that is screaming “YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO DO, WHY ARE YOU STROLLING!!”
Our BSM on campus hosted 72 hours of prayer right there in the middle of students rushing past and late night stragglers coming in and out of the library. It was an oasis in the middle of the common school schedule. It was a reminder to slow down and seek Him above all else, even in moments you would normally be sleeping. It was a glimpse of what Heaven might look like: friends of all races gathering together to pray and seek and worship His name!
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT
It doesn’t say ‘everything you want’. Seek Him and He will give you what you need. I needed that refreshing soul rest and didn’t know it until I met him in the quiet of 4 am prayer shifts. Seek Him and He will open your eyes to His thumbprints on it all!
It was a week of soul rest, rest that one doesn’t normally find as a college student. A week of being intentional in seeking our Creator and a week of being blessed in exactly what I needed. Knock and He will answer! And in the meantime praise Him in that hallway!
